“A Lesson in Love”
By Michael Jordan Segal, MSW
Audio- “A Lesson in Love”
“I never liked rings. I do not wear a high school ring; I do not wear a college ring; and I did not want to wear a wedding ring. This was not because I did not want people to know that I was married, but because I just did not feel comfortable with a ring on my finger.
After graduating from college I finally was about to “pop the question” to my high school sweetheart, Sharon Gail Weingarton, who continually was at my side when I was almost fatally injured during a robbery.
Sharon was the best — pretty, kind, sweet, and good-hearted. However, what would she say when I proposed and said that I did not want to wear a wedding ring? I practiced what I was going to say to her. I thought long and hard. I finally decided that there was no answer to my dilemma. I would simply tell her, and then wait five minutes listening to her explode.
So that night I proposed, and afterwards I told Sharon that I was not going to wear a ring. I simply said: “I just don’t like rings. I don’t wear a high school ring…” I expected Sharon to become enraged: “WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU’RE NOT GOING TO WEAR A WEDDING RING?”
However, instead, I merely heard silence. After what in my mind seemed like an eternity, Sharon calmly remarked: “Fine. If you don’t want to wear a wedding ring, I won’t change my name. I will not call myself Sharon Segal.”
On our Fifteenth Anniversary, I remembered my first lesson of marriage that was taught to me by my wife Sharon Gail Segal as I looked down upon the ring on my ring finger — COMPROMISE.”

Gratitude Unlocks the Fullness of Life
December 30, 2008
Welcome to the Happy Wednesday Broadcast
For another midweek BOOST to help make your Wednesday
A “Power” day and banish “hump” day from your life forever.
And now here is your host,
the Happy Wednesday Lady, Joanie Winberg
Happy Wednesday Everyone!
Today’s quote
“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough and more…It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
~Melody Beattie
Gratitude Video
Nick Vujicic is often asked,
“How come you smile so much?”
He says, “It’s a long story.”
Today’s tip
Here we are at the end of another year. When reflecting back, how are you feeling about this past year? Are you feeling disappointed about what you did not accomplish? Do you have any regrets or hard feelings about anything or anyone?
Be aware of how you are feeling when only focusing on what went wrong during the year. Are you feeling stressed or anxious?
How about focusing on what did go right this year. Just like the radio stations play the “Top 40″ songs at the end of the year, let’s make a list of the “Top 40″ things you are grateful for this past year. Include everything; no matter how small the accomplishment. When focusing on the positive things, notice how you are feeling. Are you feeling more at peace and joyful?
As Melody Beattie said in her quote- “Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.” It’s one of the secrets to true happiness.
I wish you and your family all the best for the New Year.

“Family…let’s be grateful for those who
give us happiness; they are the charming
gardeners who make our soul bloom.”
~Marcel Proust
Today is Happy Wednesday…your “Power” Day.
How can you empower yourself today?
Being grateful is one of the most powerful tools
to attract more love, happiness, health and
prosperity into your life.
To build your gratitude muscle, start everyday
with three things you are grateful for, such as
your health, your family or something as simple
as the gift of a new day. To continue building
your gratitude muscle, before going to sleep,
focus on three or more positive things that
occurred doing your day.
When you focus on the positive or the good
that already exists in your life, you will
automatically start to attract more of the same.
Please share how you made your Wednesday a
“Power” day by going to

Three Tips on How to Enjoy the Holidays with Ease!
December 16, 2008
WELCOME to the Happy Wednesday Broadcast
for another midweek BOOST to help make your
Wednesday a “Power” day and banish
“hump” day from your life forever.
And now here is your host…
The Happy Wednesday Lady, Joanie Winberg
Happy Wednesday Everyone!
We all seem to face the challenge of juggling our time effectively during the hectic holiday season.
Here are 3 tips on how to enjoy the holidays with more ease, less stress and a lot more fun:
1. Practice good self-care: Eat right and get enough rest. Do something special for yourself everyday, even if you only have 10 minutes to spare. Do what makes you feel relaxed; take a walk, listen to your favorite music, have a massage. I suggest doing something as simple as periodically stretch and take a few deep breaths.
2. Plan Ahead: Create a workable schedule to get everything important done. Ask yourself: Does this really need to be done today? Would anyone be affected if I didn’t do it? If the answer is ‘yes’ to either question, then it is a priority. Take care of the priority items first, and then do other less important things.
3. Learn to say “no”: It really is OK to say “no” to things you don’t have time for or don’t have an interest in participating. If you’re saying yes because you’re worried about what someone might say, you’ll feel resentful. Be true to yourself. Say “maybe” and then check in with yourself before you make the decision.

Live your Dream Video
Poem:
Dare To Dream
~Julie Anne Ford
Let nothing hold you back from
exploring your wildest fantasies,
wishes, and aspirations.
Don’t be afraid to dream big
and to follow your dreams
wherever they may lead you.
Open your eyes to their beauty;
open your mind to their magic;
open your heart to their possibilities.
Dare to dream.
Whether they are in color
or in black and white,
whether they are big or small,
easily attainable or almost impossible,
look to your dreams,
and make them become reality.
Wishes and hopes are nothing
until you take the first step
towards making them something!
Dare to dream,
Because only by dreaming,
will you ever discover
who you are, what you want,
and what you can do.
Don’t be afraid to take risks,
to become involved,
to make commitment.
Do whatever it takes to make
your dreams come true.
Always believe in miracles,
and always believe in you!

Today’s Happy Wednesday is a very special video.
The text is below. Enjoy!
One More Day
~ Linda Ellis (copyright 2004)
This day…this precious, wonderful gift
has been bestowed upon me…free!
And whatever I choose to do with it
remains entirely up to me.
I could squander these given hours,
treat each task as if it’s a chore
and mark this day off my calendar
like so many times before.
I could overlook the blooming flowers,
and ignore the sun’s warm light
before it inevitably sets again,
turning my gift of day to night.
I could dwell upon mistakes I’ve made
and cry regretful tears
and live my life in the shadow of
my own anxieties and fears.
Or I could make a resolution,
before one more day has passed
that I will live it to its fullest
…as it if were my last.
Then I shall as I awaken
relinquish my fret and my sorrow
and accept one more day to love and laugh, with no guarantee of tomorrow.
I shall pause to smell those flowers
and while their aroma fills my senses,
vow to bury those anxieties,
fears and defenses.
I shall drink in that sweet sunshine
as it gently warms my skin
allowing its rays to slowly blossom
my spirit from within.
I shall not pass a stranger by
without exchanging a tender smile
for this day, we shared a moment of life …if only for a little while.
And at night, as I lay down my head,
only to wake again…I’ll pray
and if I do, then I’ll thank God
for giving me “One More Day.”

Happy Thanksgiving!
Today’s Quote -
“If you haven’t got all the things you want, be grateful for the
things you don’t have that you don’t want.”
~ Unknown Author
Today’s Empowering Tip -
It’s time again to empower yourself by being grateful.
Today’s quote shows how to be grateful by focusing on what you don’t have that you don’t want.
Are you grateful because:
- You don’ have a serious illness?
- You don’t have to worry about not having a safe place to sleep at night?
- Your belly is not grumbling due to a lack of food?
How appreciative are you of your basic necessities? Are you taking them for granted?
Let’s show our gratitude by taking this a step further and reaching out to someone less fortunate. Do an act of kindness by volunteering at a homeless shelter or donating food to a soup kitchen.
Take time to visit someone you know in a nursing home. Just ten minutes will make a difference in their life as well as yours.
Empower yourself today by being grateful!
