* Those viewers watched 34% more online videos than they did last year.
* The average duration of online video is fairly short, at 3.1 minutes per video.
More people, watching more videos, more often...ESPECIALLY WOMEN:
* Women watch 41% more online videos than they did last year.
* They now watch 79 videos per month on average, up 33%.
* They spend 227 minutes watching online video, up 46%.
* The average video length for women is 2.9 minutes, vs. 3.4 for men.
With women becoming much bigger players on the web overall,
this ties in well.
We have extremely busy lives with work, home, budgets and kids
especially when SINGLE (no new news there). We crave content that takes us
mentally away from our daily routine and reality. We also look for "information
& inspiration" from our "sisters" & around similar situations. Video content that
gives us real information, but that also allows for personal testimonials, is
most powerful.
So what do we need to create this video content? Does it take a big
investment? Does it have to be totally professional? Well, guess what...
Homemade content is by far the most popular content to upload, 27%.
Content from digital cameras is most likely to make it onto the net, as 48%
of contributors used this medium to create their content. At 26% and 22%,
respectively, home PCs and mobiles are the next-most popular choices
for creating content. Users of all ages now generate far more content than
traditional broadcasters.
The thing to keep in mind however, is that it's moving away from the website
model and moving towards a few key socially driven platforms like YouTube and
most recently, live video streaming platforms like Ustream & LiveStream.
The surprising thing is that these tools and sites are quite easy to use and
are FREE! We like both EASY & FREE, don't we?...especially when we're
"single again"!
