Helpful Tips for Parents and Teachers to Work Together for the Success of the Child's Education.
Tina Turbin

The number one thing that determines whether it is a good school year or a great school year is parent involvement. Parent participation in your child's education is a key part of our success as parents.

Here are some tips to help make parents and teachers work together for the success of the child's education.

1. Recognize that you and the teacher are on the same side. Know this is a team effort and that you both want only the best for your child.

2. Understand that children change rapidly and judgments made last year or the year before or even last week may no longer be true.  Give the child the opportunity to make slow or rapid change and do not label a child. Children can change very quickly with the right tools, guidance and loving support.

3. Treat the teacher with respect and expect the same in return. Expect the teacher to treat your child with respect as well. Do your best to get along even if the subject can be trying, and work together towards a known goal of a child doing well.

4. Do no resort to drugs and labeling children who are antsy in their chair, who dream and look out the window or who does not listen. There are tools to handle these matters. Simple, safe and honest communication is one Basic which can open a door that you did not even know was there. Contact me and I will refer you to help and give you References to help you at home as well as to bring to your school teacher and/or principal. Again, do not resort to drugging a child for school or educational troubles. This is NOT the solution and is not addressing the problem.

Parents who are actively involved in their child's education often score higher on achievement tests than do others. What parents do to help their children learn is more important to academic success than how well-off or educated the family is. Raising a child is a team effort with the child's best interest and future always in mind.

I hope this has been helpful information. Please do not hesitate to e mail me if you have any questions on children, education, and motherhood in all its stages and even after “life after mom-hood”. I research and write extensively on many issues women are presented with. I care about others and I enjoy helping.
